A GORGEOUS GREEN SEASON IS UPON US!

The rains have arrived and the thirsty earth and wildlife that were desperately in need of life renewing showers are being revived which is a joy to witness. The migration has been spectacular in front of the lodge as the wildlife flocked to our pumped water holes, but they were in need of even more to sustain them, so we are excited that the green season settling over Botswana.

Moela Safari Lodge will transform into a vibrant paradise with a lush riverbed teeming with life and beauty, heavenly birdsong to match the lively energy and unforgettable sunsets amongst so much more! Have a look at what you can expect here . This is the time when the Boteti River's surroundings flourish, creating an enchanting backdrop for a safari.

Guests can experience some of our favourite activities such as open-door scenic helicopter flight over the Makgadikgadi Pans to view the incredible zebra migration from above - a breathtaking spectacle unique to this time of year that, if guests can invest in the extra supplement, we always recommend they do. (we can arrange it all for your guests). It is a wonderful season to immerse in the rich cultural heritage of the local San people during guided bush walks and learn all about the green season delights that the bushmen utilize in their everyday life and how they go about hunting and gathering during these months. Game drives in these months are also truly some of the best for photographers and birders, as there is an influx of new life as the breeding season brings adorable young animals to the plains, birds are in full breeding plumage and all wildlife is generally more active.

The tropical storms are spectacular to watch (especially from the elevated viewing points at the lodge) as they move across the flat horizon – it’s our personal favourite time of year and we like to refer to it as ‘our second high season’.
